Case Study:

San Diego chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association

Conrad PR is the official Public Relations firm for the San Diego chapter of the California Lansdscape Contractors Association, San Diego chapter, the only non‑profit, statewide trade association of licensed landscape and landscape‑related specialty contractors. The San Diego chapter, with more than 300 members, ranks as one of the largest among the state’s 17 CLCA chapters.

Conrad PR helps the San Diego CLCA to dilute the myth that landscapers don’t care about water waste in the San Diego area, to inform the public of what they should watch out for when hiring a landscape contractor and to bring attention to the issues that affect the homeowner and business owner when it comes to caring for our beautiful landscapes.

San Diego CLCA’s Annual Beautification Awards

One of Conrad PR’s largest PR programs conducted for the San Diego CLCA is their annual Beautification Awards. Beautiful and unique residential and commercial landscape projects in the San Diego County area are annually awarded at the Beautification Awards held by the San Diego California Landscape Contractors Association.

Conrad PR educates landscape contractors on how to leverage their award to attract more attention to their company, their services and their beautiful projects.   Through email and social media outlets, we spread the word to contractors to enter their projects in the program.  Now – we are conducting a full-fledged PR campaign to secure the coverage in the publications that matter.  Our results of those efforts?  See above and below.

The Beautification Awards honors landscape contractors for their sustainable landscaped projects and for excellence in landscape design, installation and management of projects all over the county. The awards categories cover residential and commercial landscape construction, maintenance and renovation, along with water features, outdoor lighting and water saving California-friendly landscaping.

Nature Designs

Nature Designs, a premier landscape maintenance, design and installation firm that services the residential market, hired Conrad PR to implement a PR program to promote a special project in Alpine, Calif. .

The Alpine project was very special not only because of the expanse and scope of the project, but because of the timeline in which the project needed to be completed.  The end product was a beautiful masterpiece, a perfect landscape for a wedding site backdrop, (there was a wedding on the site shortly after the project was completed).

Conrad PR took on the task of writing a story on the Alpine project  and then pitching it to the media.   Our efforts resulted in a wonderful, full feature story in the San Diego Union-Tribune, placed perfectly in the Home and Garden section appealing to Nature Design’s target audience.  See below [pdf of article but please don’t post the first page or the last page – just the two pages that feature the story, also post online version SignOnSanDiego.com.

Nature Designs was overjoyed with the end result of our public relations efforts…so much so – they hired us to promote the awards they received for the Beautification Awards program, hosted annually by the San Diego chapter of the Calif. Landscape Contractors Association.  We look forward to garnering coverage in multiple local San Diego publications on behalf of Nature Designs.

Bemus Landscape

Conrad PR helped Bemus Landscape, an award-winning full-service landscape company serving San Diego and Orange County –to promote two top-notch awards they received.  These two awards recognized the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship on both a national and local level—a national Merit Award from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and the prestigious Judges Beautification Award from the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) of Orange County.

Working to make Bemus Landscape stand out in the crowd of award-winners, Conrad PR pitched multiple and interesting angles to secure story coverage.  We formed a strategic media list – concentrating on publications that spoke to Bemus’ targeted audience and markets, and pitched aggressively, with thoughtful care toward “taking care of the media.”
